The Max Internship seeks to engage high school graduates, college students, and recent college graduates from communities underrepresented in conservation, particularly of Asian, Black, Hispanic, Multi-Racial, and Native American background, in conservation careers. Conservation Trust for North Carolina launched the program in 2008 and since then has connected 126 interns to land trusts, government agencies, universities, and nonprofit organizations across North Carolina.

Interns apply to work with our partner organizations for PAID, 10-week full-time summer internships that provide hands-on opportunities to gain the skills and experiences necessary for a successful career. Through this program, CTNC and its partners introduce young adults of color to careers in conservation and connect conservation organizations to potential employees, while building each organization’s racial equity and inclusion capacity. During the summer, interns also have the opportunity to participate in facilitated affinity group dialogue sessions.

Internships are full time, 10-week terms that take place over the summer and run from May – August 2021.
Stipend for the 2021 internship is $5,000.
